I had to go to the hospital and have a chest x ray and some blood taken. I haven't been sick for a while so this stuff is pretty new to me. The chest x ray was pretty quick and painless, I got right in, they x rayed me ,and got right out. My blood work, naturally, was not so quick and painless!
First off, I can't even remember ever having blood drawn from my body and put into tubes, but I was certain it wasn't going to be pleasant. Secondly, I wasn't allowed to drink anything from midnight on (I'm still not eating so that was no problem) so I wasn't feeling very good when I got up in the morning, and i had to get Zach ready for school without my usual 2 or 3 cups of morning tea, or my hot chocolate I make out of Carnation Instant Breakfast. I had a little bit of a headache and an upset stomach when my mother drove me over to the hospital.
Then when the girl informed me she was on her last day of clinicals. She stabbed me in the arm with a giant needle and suddenly she began having problems. The other nurse had to tell her, "No, you're not over far enough, no go over to the right and go deeper..." At that point I really was feeling crummy. I was looking the opposite direction, desperately trying not to get a glimpse of anything she was doing, gritting my teeth like she was stabbing me, feeling tears coming to my eyes....
wondering when on Earth I became such a sissy-la-la, Or as they would say on "The Little Mermaid"... a guppy. Why can't a I take a little bit of pain and watch a little needle and blood? People have to do this all the time. When Zach was about 4, he had to have it done, and it didn't bother him at all! I begged him not to look at what they were doing, but he watched the whole thing, and never made a peep. I was the one getting nutty.
Suddenly, I broke out into a cold sweat. Even though the ladies were standing right next to me, talking to me, they sounded like they were getting farther and farther away.... I never actually passed out, but that was probably the closest I'd ever been to passing out. She was done before I could actually pass out, thankfully.
I had to sit for a few minutes and my mom found me some orange juice, then I was alright. I went home and laid on the couch and started watching "Fraiser" when suddenly the phone rang. It was the hospital, saying they needed some more blood! Freaking vampires!!
Luckily my second trip was smoother. But now I have 2 sore arms, and I'm waiting for the results. That's always fun!

I have hit the floor atleast twice, had to be carried to another room once, and get sick most times they draw my blood. I never get sick when drawing someone elses blood. I always think it is better to give the stick rather than to receive.

hmm, let's see. Before one of my surgeries, I had some blood drawn and the guy must not have known what he was doing because blood was running, not trickling but RUNNING down my arm and pooling on the floor!
Then there was the time I gave blood and wound up with a bruise the size of TX and almost passed out.
Ha, I remember Nik was in basic and hit the floor and had a shiner for her basic training pic! HAHA
